About

Steve’s building career started in 1988 when he went to work with a NorthWest Indiana building company while attending Purdue. He quickly was managing the company and, in two years, went out on his own. Over the following 30 years, he developed residential and commercial projects in the US, Costa Rica, and Panama. With an innate ability to understand efficient and effective process techniques, he has been able to lead and develop projects in record time while maintaining a low-stress work environment. He managed up to eighty employees at a time in both Spanish and English speaking environments and has built projects using all forms of building methods.

Over the years, Steve has won awards for building, design, and development, and his work has been cited in various magazines and publications nationally and internationally. With a finger on the pulse of international design and development, Steve effectively anticipates trends and is always looking to build in more sustainable ways.

While Steve loves building and designing, he also has a passion for helping others. He served as a director of the Panama Red Cross for three years and is currently the field director of Basic Needs, Simple Solutions, an Indianapolis based non-profit. Over the years, Steve has designed and developed appropriate technologies that have served to better the lives of the bottom billion demographic worldwide. He also developed the first sustainable, closed eco-system farm in Central America, which gained worldwide attention and was promoted by the Smithsonian Institute globally for agricultural education. He has worked in partnership with and as support alongside such organizations as the Peace Corps, Red Cross, and Rotary Club International.

Below is a video I made of a place I go on the Caribbean Coast of Panama.  Lots of history there, some good, some bad, and some really bad.

It’s a beautiful place in the world.
